Career Counseling

Individual sessions focusing on career exploration and development, career transition, and career management issues. This process includes working one-on-one to gather both personal/work history, strategy planning, homework assignments, and may include standardized and non-standardized assessments. Acts as sounding board with ability to see “big picture” while engaging in ongoing discussions aimed at evaluating transitional objectives.  Provide strategies for tackling obstacles and achieving goals with support, encouragement, and accountability.

CAREER ASSESSMENTS

The Career Design Guide is an entire career planning hands-on process from assessment to action planning that includes:

Three inventories that help identify interests, values and skills the individual is most motivated to use
A Seven Pattern Framework that brings all the inventory results together, summarizing the interaction between personal preferences and the specific career, development and life options that align them. Practical step-by-step planning model that incorporates personal and market realities and leads users to select the best direction for them. Integrates with the Myers-Briggs Type indicator. Versatile to a broad range of adult career issues including:

      • Planning for career transitions
      • Building an effective, focused development plan
      • Looking for a new type of work
      • Seeking self-renewal or greater quality of life

This is a paper and pen assessment that can be done long-distance via both remotely  or in-person (Sarasota, Florida area).

Strong Interpretive Assessment – This instrument is ideal for high school, college and older adults, one-on-one management coaching, and staff development programs. The Strong Interest Inventory assessment is used to explore the world of work and promote lifelong learning. This can be done individually or in combination with the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory.

PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) is a nationally-used personality inventory designed to assist individuals in identifying some significant personal preferences. When used in career planning it is a practical tool for investigating what works for you, then looking at and recognizing work that satisfies your preferences.

This includes:

Career planning at every stage such as:

      • Choosing of subjects and majors in school
      • Defining what kind of work one wants to do
      • Advancement in one’s organization
      • Changing of careers later in life
      • Providing clues about why a given field makes you feel comfortable or uncomfortable.

MBTI ® STEP II – Explore the facets of your MBTI® type. The STEP II helps in clarifying your four letter type through an in-depth, personalized account of personality preferences, derived from your answers on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Step II (MBTI Step II) and a series of exercises that encourage individual processing of your responses. Feedback session is designed to give you an indication of the unique way in which you express each main preference and can be done individually or within group.

      • Presents your results on 20 facets that underlie type preferences
      • Gives you information on four-letter type
      • Is compatible with Form M
      • Provides interpreter’s summary with a graph showing average range of scores for your type
