Career Counseling – Individual sessions focusing on career exploration and development, career transition, and career management issues. This process includes working one-on-one to gather both personal/work history, strategy planning, homework assignments, and may include standardized and non-standardized assessments. In addition, attention may be given to career related challenges and learning how to manage them such as anger/grief issues related to job loss, lack of confidence, inability for follow-through, etc.

Career Coaching – Guidance in developing realistic career goals and creating personal marketing plans for job search and/or career management in an organized, focused, and targeted approach. Acts as sounding board with ability to see “big picture” while engaging in ongoing discussions aimed at evaluating career objectives.  Provide strategies for tackling obstacles and achieving goals with support, encouragement, and accountability.

The Career Design Guide is an entire career planning hands-on process from assessment to action planning that includes:

Three inventories that help identify interests, values and skills the individual is most motivated to use
A Seven Pattern Framework that brings all the inventory results together, summarizing the interaction between personal preferences and the specific career, development and life options that align them. Practical step-by-step planning model that incorporates personal and market realities and leads users to select the best direction for them. Integrates with the Myers-Briggs Type indicator. Versatile to a broad range of adult career issues including:

  • Planning for career transitions
  • Building an effective, focused development plan
  • Looking for a new type of work
  • Seeking self-renewal or greater quality of life

Strong Interpretive Assessment – This instrument is ideal for college and high school counseling, one-on-one management coaching, and staff development programs. The Strong Interest Inventory assessment is used to explore the world of work and promote lifelong learning. This can be done individually or in combination with the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory.

CAPS, COPES, COPS – is a three part assessment used individually or together to help individuals identify interests, learn about their abilities and determine their personal values which play an important part in occupational selection and job satisfaction. When used in its entirety, results are combined to give comprehensive information which can be used in the following areas:

  • Career exploration in middle school, high school and college courses
  • Individual career counseling with students and adults
  • Occupational counseling in business and industry

1. The CAPS or the Career Ability Placement Survey (CAPS) is a comprehensive, multi-dimensional battery designed to measure vocationally relevant abilities. Each of the eight ability dimensions is keyed to entry requirements for the majority of occupations in each of the 14 COPSystem Career Clusters. CAPS scores are interpreted in terms of examinees’ abilities relative to others at the same educational level. Scores are also interpreted in terms of each of the 14 COPSystem Career Clusters. Individuals learn which occupational areas are most suited to their present abilities and which areas might require a bit more training if examinees are interested in pursuing related occupations.

2. The COPS or the Career Occupational Preference System Interest Inventory consists of 168 items, providing job activity interest scores related to the 14 COPSystem Career Clusters. Each Cluster is keyed to high school and college curriculum, as well as current sources of occupational information. The COPS interpretive material emphasizes a “hands-on” approach to career exploration, featuring career and educational planning worksheets, along with a listing of suggested activities to gain experience.

2. The COPS-P Interest Inventory provides interest scores referencing the COPSystem Career Clusters. With a focus on professional occupations, the COPS-P can be used to explore college majors, help college students conquer career indecision and assist adult professionals with career issues. The COPS-P interest assessment heightens self-awareness while providing access to the most current occupational information available.

3. COPES or The Career Orientation Placement and Evaluation Survey provides a measure of values and scores are keyed to the 14 COPSystem Career Clusters and examinees will discover which occupational areas match their personal values.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) is a nationally-used personality inventory designed to assist individuals in identifying some significant personal preferences. When used in career planning it is a practical tool for investigating what works for you, then looking at and recognizing work that satisfies your preferences.

This includes:

  • Career planning at every stage such as
  • Choosing of subjects and majors in school
  • Defining what kind of work one wants to do
  • Advancement in one’s organization
  • Changing of careers later in life
  • Providing clues about why a given field makes you feel comfortable or uncomfortable.

MBTI ® STEP II – Explore the facets of your MBTI® type. This assessment helps you clarify your four letter type through an in-depth, personalized account of your personality preferences, derived from your answers on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Step II (MBTI Step II) and a series of exercises that encourage individual processing of your responses. Feedback session is designed to give you an indication of the unique way in which you express each main preference and can be done individually or within group.
